Taller letters cost more per metre of text, and a longer line costs more because it is simply more letters. You never have to count the letters yourself — the calculator does it, and the price updates as you type.

Letter height is the cap height of your tallest letter — a capital A measured top to bottom, not the height of the whole block of text. Overall width runs from the left edge of the first letter to the right edge of the last one, spaces included. The diagram above the size fields shows both. Two stacked lines are two order lines, one for each line. As a rule of thumb, 200–400mm letters suit a shopfront fascia read from across the road, and 80–150mm a reception wall.

Here the face is solid 304 stainless, not acrylic, and the LED sits behind the letter throwing a halo onto the wall. By day you get brushed or gold metal; by night a clean silhouette in light. Silver hairline or gold PVD, and on this range the face and the sides are the same metal, so that one choice covers the whole letter. Hairline silver is the corporate default and hides fingerprints; gold PVD is a coating bonded into the steel rather than sprayed on, so it holds its colour for the life of the sign. There is no painted option and no acrylic face on this range — the metal is the finish. Because the halo needs somewhere to land, mount these on a light, reasonably flat wall; against a dark or heavily textured surface the glow largely disappears. Minimum letter height is 80mm.

Wiring the LEDs straight into 240V mains destroys them the moment you switch on, and that is not covered by warranty. Take the rainproof driver for anything outdoors, and mount it somewhere your electrician can still reach in two years.
