A printed display board in Malaysia starts at RM5.00 per square foot — an A1 board is RM26.88 on waterproof PP hollow board, RM32.27 on 5 mm KT foam board and RM48.41 on rigid 5 mm PVC foam. The price includes the printing; the board is cut to the size you enter, up to a 1.22 × 2.44 m sheet. Which board you pick comes down to three questions: does it go outside, does it need to stay perfectly flat, and how often will it be carried?
What printed boards cost

Printed one side, cut to size, before any mounting extras. Live prices from the mounting boards page on 12 September 2026.
| Board | Per sq ft | A2 | A1 | 2 × 4 ft | 4 × 8 ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PP hollow 4 mm | RM5.00 | RM13.42 | RM26.88 | RM40.01 | RM159.89 |
| KT board 5 mm | RM6.00 | RM16.12 | RM32.27 | RM48.04 | RM191.99 |
| PVC foam 5 mm | RM9.00 | RM24.17 | RM48.41 | RM72.05 | RM287.98 |
| HIPS 1.5 mm | RM12.00 | RM32.23 | RM64.54 | RM96.07 | RM383.97 |
| MDF 9 mm | RM12.00 | RM32.23 | RM64.54 | RM96.07 | RM383.97 |
| PVC foam 10 mm | RM15.00 | RM40.29 | RM80.68 | RM120.09 | RM479.97 |
Any size in between is priced at the same rate per square foot, so a 700 × 1,000 mm board costs exactly what its area says. There is no setup fee and no minimum order.
Which board for which job

- PP hollow board 4 mm (RM5.00/sq ft) — corrugated plastic, light and genuinely waterproof. The one to use for anything that meets rain or damp: car park notices, site boards, outdoor standees under a porch, temporary directional signs.
- KT board 5 mm (RM6.00/sq ft) — foam core with paper faces. The lightest and cheapest indoor board, and the standard for mounted posters, event and photo-booth boards, welcome boards and easel displays. Keep it dry; the paper face is what fails first.
- PVC foam 5 mm (RM9.00/sq ft) — dense, smooth and rigid, with clean router-cut edges. The board for something used repeatedly or mounted on a wall: menu boards, price boards, reception and wayfinding panels.
- PVC foam 10 mm (RM15.00/sq ft) — self-supporting at large sizes, with a thick visible edge. Premium wall pieces and shaped logos.
- HIPS 1.5 mm (RM12.00/sq ft) — thin, tough plastic sheet that flexes without creasing, for slotting into frames and holders.
- MDF 9 mm (RM12.00/sq ft) — real wood fibre with warm raw edges and weight, for interior and hospitality pieces.
For a shopfront signboard rather than a display board, the material choice is a different one: see signboards and acrylic vs ACP vs KT board.
Is PVC foam board waterproof?

Yes. PVC foam does not absorb water, so rain and washing do not swell it, and neither does PP hollow board. Both are safe outdoors in Malaysian weather, with two caveats: printed colour still fades over months of direct sun, and a large thin board flexes in wind unless it is fixed at several points.
KT board is not waterproof. Its paper faces lift and the foam delaminates within days of real rain, which is the most common and most expensive board mistake here. Use it indoors, or move to PP hollow for the same money-ish outdoors. MDF is wood, so it is interior-only too.
How to mount a printed board

Every option below is chosen in the configurator, and the price is for an A1 KT board at RM32.27:
| Mounting | A1 total | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Foamboard hanger, one set of two | RM35.27 | Hanging on a nail or hook, level |
| Double-sided tape on the back | RM35.50 | Sticking straight to a wall or door |
| 4 corner holes | RM37.27 | Screws, cable ties, hanging on a fence |
| 4 holes with sign spacers | RM57.27 | A floating panel held off the wall |
| Rounded corners | RM32.27, free | Anywhere children or crowds pass |
A board can also sit in something rather than on something: a board display stand is RM45.00, an A-frame from RM95.00, and a wood easel holds a board for a wedding or reception welcome sign. The full comparison is in banner stands compared.
Cutting, lamination and double-sided printing

- Protective lamination adds RM7.49 on an A1 KT board, bringing it to RM39.76. It resists scuffs and fingerprints and slows fading, which is worth it on a board that will be handled or that lives under lights.
- Double-sided printing adds RM29.97 on an A1 (RM62.24 in total), for boards seen from both sides in a corridor, a hanging sign or an A-frame.
- Die-cutting to a shape is charged by the length of the cut, so a simple outline costs far less than an intricate one. The configurator shows the exact figure once you choose it.
- Cut to size is included. Nothing is charged for the standard straight cut.
Bulk prices for events and campaigns
Quantity discounts apply automatically to one design: 5% from 100 pieces and 10% from 500. One hundred A2 KT boards are RM1,531.40 rather than RM1,612.00, which is RM15.31 a board including printing.
This is where boards beat printed paper for campaigns: a rigid board needs no frame, no tape and no stand, and it survives being stacked, carried and put out again next week.
What a board cannot do
- Maximum sheet is 1.22 × 2.44 m (4 × 8 ft). Anything larger is produced as panels designed to sit side by side.
- Rigid boards over about 90 cm on a side do not travel by parcel courier. They are collected from the shop in Seri Kembangan or sent by Lalamove within the Klang Valley, and the checkout switches to those options automatically.
- KT board outdoors, again: no. If there is any chance of rain, order PP hollow.
Boards are printed in-house and dispatched in 5 working days from artwork approval, or the next working day with Express. See urgent printing.
FAQ
How much does foam board printing cost in Malaysia?
From RM5.00 per square foot. At Tandaku an A1 board is RM26.88 on PP hollow, RM32.27 on 5 mm KT foam board and RM48.41 on 5 mm PVC foam, printing included. A 4 × 8 ft KT board is RM191.99.
What is KT board?
A lightweight display board with a foam core between two paper faces, about 5 mm thick. It is the cheapest board to print and the easiest to carry, which makes it the standard for mounted posters, event boards and easel displays — indoors only, because the paper face fails in rain.
Is PVC foam board waterproof?
Yes. PVC foam does not absorb water, so it holds up outdoors and in wet areas; PP hollow board is waterproof too and costs less. KT board and MDF are not waterproof and should stay indoors.
Which board is best for outdoor use?
PP hollow board 4 mm at RM5.00 per square foot for temporary outdoor signs, or PVC foam 5 mm at RM9.00 for something rigid that stays up longer. Fix either at several points so wind cannot flex it, and expect print colour to fade after months in direct sun.
How do you mount a printed board on a wall?
Choose double-sided tape on the back for a flat, permanent fix, a foamboard hanger set for a nail or hook, four corner holes for screws, or holes with sign spacers for a floating look. On an A1 KT board those add RM3.23, RM3.00, RM5.00 and RM25.00.
Can you print a board on both sides?
Yes. Double-sided printing adds RM29.97 on an A1 board, so an A1 KT board printed both sides is RM62.24. It is the right choice for hanging signs and A-frames.
Is there a discount for printing many boards?
Yes, automatically: 5% from 100 pieces of one design and 10% from 500. One hundred A2 KT boards come to RM1,531.40, about RM15.31 each with printing included.
