What Is UV DTF Sticker Printing? Sheets, Prices and When to Use It

UV DTF transfers leave the artwork on your product without a visible sticker outline. Here is how they differ from vinyl labels, what printed sheets cost and how to choose.

What Is UV DTF Sticker Printing? Sheets, Prices and When to Use It

Key takeaways

  • Choose UV DTF for hard-surface artwork with a raised feel and no visible sticker outline.
  • UV DTF is sold per printed sheet, and several designs can share a sheet.
  • Ordinary white vinyl is enough when you want a solid label background behind your product information.
  • Check the artwork at its finished size and measure the usable area of your container before ordering.

UV DTF sticker printing transfers your artwork onto a hard surface, leaving no visible sticker outline around the design. Choose it for a raised graphic on a bottle, tumbler or phone case; choose an ordinary vinyl label when a solid background behind your wording is useful.

What is UV DTF sticker printing?

Clear transfer film partly lifted from a plain glass tumbler beside blank sheets.

With a UV DTF transfer, the printed artwork bonds to the object and the transfer film peels away. The result has a raised, embossed feel. Unlike a conventional label, there is no visible sticker panel surrounding the artwork.

Tandaku's UV DTF transfers have full-colour printing with white ink. The listed uses include bottles, tumblers, glass, wood and phone cases. That makes them worth considering when you want the object itself to remain visible around a graphic.

Be clear about what you are decorating when you order. Hard-surface UV DTF stickers are different from the shop's sublimation transfers for polyester clothing. If your artwork is going onto a shirt rather than a bottle, choose the product for that application before preparing the file.

How is UV DTF different from a vinyl label?

Glass jars showing white, clear and frosted blank label backgrounds beside transfer film.

Start with how much of the packaging you want to cover. A transfer leaves the artwork without a surrounding sticker outline. A vinyl label supplies a film background, which may be white, clear or frosted.

Choice What stays around the artwork When to choose it
UV DTF transfer No visible sticker outline A graphic with a raised feel on a hard object
White high-opaque vinyl A solid white label background Product information that should stand apart from the packaging
Ultra-clear vinyl Clear film around the print Artwork on a transparent label
Frosted vinyl A translucent, etched-glass background A soft background on clear packaging

Clear vinyl and UV DTF can both leave the container visible, but they achieve that appearance differently. Clear vinyl still has a film label around the artwork; the UV DTF transfer leaves no visible sticker outline.

How much does a printed UV DTF sheet cost?

Different sizes of blank transfer sheets arranged beside a tumbler.

UV DTF is sold per printed sheet. The listed sheet prices are before delivery and options.

Printed UV DTF sheet Price per sheet
A5 RM10.00
A4 RM20.00
A3 RM30.00

Several designs can share a sheet. The sheet price therefore does not tell you the price of an individual logo until you know its finished size and how the artwork will be arranged. Do not assume a sheet contains a fixed quantity of labels.

Choose the smallest sheet that accommodates your required artwork at the correct size. A larger sheet is useful when you need more space, but buying it without checking the layout can leave unused material.

You can select UV DTF on the label sticker page, or use the dedicated UV DTF sticker page. Check the selected sheet and quantity before paying.

How do you choose a sheet and arrange your designs?

Paper shapes arranged on a sheet to explore a layout beside a bottle.

Measure the space where the graphic will sit before arranging the sheet. Use the actual bottle, jar or case rather than relying on a product photograph. A design that looks balanced on a screen can occupy an awkward part of the real object.

Make a plain paper mock-up at the intended finished size and hold it against the container. Check whether the artwork fits the usable area, whether the wording is readable and whether it runs into a shoulder, rim or other change in shape.

You can gang different designs onto the same UV DTF sheet. Keep each design at its intended output size when building the layout, and make clear how many copies of each you need. Shrinking everything to fit can leave you with graphics that are too small for the product.

Remember that the order quantity refers to printed sheets. Check your sheet layout as well as the quantity field so you know what the order contains.

What should you check before ordering for bottles or jars?

Paper mock-ups positioned against containers of different colours and shapes.

Check the artwork against the actual container colour. Transparent packaging, dark packaging and a filled bottle can give the same design a different background. Decide which parts of the object you want visible and which parts of the artwork need to stand out.

Read the smallest wording at the finished size. Enlarging the preview makes small text easy to inspect, but it does not make that text larger on the bottle. If the wording is difficult to read on the paper mock-up, revise the layout before ordering.

For colour preparation, the RGB and CMYK guide explains why screen colours and printed colours can differ.

Also describe how the object will be used. If it will be washed repeatedly or applied over a textured or sharply curved area, confirm that specific application before placing a larger order. A material name alone does not answer every question about the finished object.

When is an ordinary label the better buy?

An ordinary label is often enough when the job is mainly to present product information on a solid background. White high-opaque vinyl blocks the packaging behind it, so the container colour does not become the background of your label.

Tandaku lists white high-opaque sticker stock at RM43.06 per m², compared with RM48.40 per m² for ultra-clear and frosted stock. These are material rates; use the product page for the exact price of your label size, quantity and selected options. They are not directly comparable with a UV DTF sheet price.

Choose white vinyl when its solid background already does the job. Paying for a transparent or transfer appearance is unnecessary if your design calls for a complete white label panel.

Ordinary labels can be supplied as square or rectangular uncut pieces, kiss-cut labels on backing sheets, or loose die-cut shapes. For container-based choices, see the bottle, jar and food label guide.

FAQ

What is DTF sticker printing?

For hard objects, UV DTF sticker printing makes a transfer whose artwork bonds to the surface when the film is removed. Tandaku's version has full-colour printing, white ink and a raised feel. Specify the object you want to decorate, because clothing transfers are a different product.

What is vinyl sticker printing?

Vinyl sticker printing puts your design onto an adhesive film label. Tandaku offers white high-opaque, ultra-clear and frosted label materials, among other choices. Choose the background appearance first, then select the size and cutting format.

How much is sticker printing?

Ordinary label prices depend on the material, individual label size, quantity and selected options. UV DTF uses fixed printed-sheet prices, as shown in the table above. Select the appropriate product and specification on the label sticker page to see the exact price before ordering.

Who prints custom stickers?

Tandaku prints custom labels and hard-surface UV DTF transfers, dispatched from Seri Kembangan. Choose ordinary labels by individual label size and quantity, or choose UV DTF by printed sheet. Upload artwork prepared for the option you select.
