About this sign
The sign reads NOT DRINKING WATER in English and AIR INI BUKAN UNTUK DIMINUM in Bahasa Malaysia, with a Chinese version (此水不可饮用) available alone or with the other languages. The crossed tap-and-glass pictogram in a red prohibition circle is clear even to readers who skip the text.
It should be fixed beside any tap, hose point, water tank or trough that carries rainwater, recycled water, treated process water or untested well water. Typical locations across Malaysia are factories, construction sites, car washes, public toilets, mosque and surau ablution areas fed from a tank, landscaping taps in condominiums and parks, and farm outbuildings.
