The sign reads GOODS SOLD ARE NOT RETURNABLE in English and BARANG YANG TELAH DIBELI TIDAK BOLEH DIPULANGKAN in Bahasa Malaysia, with a Chinese version (货物出门 恕不退换) available alone or with the other two languages. It is a fixture at cashier counters in boutiques, hardware and electrical shops, phone accessory stalls, sundry shops, stationery shops, pasar malam stalls and wholesale outlets across Malaysia. Retailers display it so the policy is stated before payment and disputes are easier to settle. Note that a displayed policy does not remove a consumer's statutory rights for faulty goods, so word any exceptions on your receipt as well.
